Sandie Stepper History

The vision of the first Drill Team in the Texas Panhandle was of Sandie Stepper founder, Betty Jones. The first official Sandie Stepper performance was documented in the Amarillo newspaper in September of 1959. The organization made its official debut at Dick Bivins Stadium, with 21 members taking the field. The original Standards for Steppers established by Mrs. Jones were the following: Be a Lady at All Times; Set a Good Example for Fellow Students; Encourage School Spirit; Be Considerate of Others at All Times. The Sandie Steppers of today respect and uphold the standards in which the organization was envisioned.
